BIO

Sigrid head shot.jpg

I was born in Rock Island, IL in 1968, in the midst of one of the biggest decades of change in U.S. History.  I identify with that year in so many ways.

My parents were both career educators.  My dad was a successful teacher, football coach in Rock Island IL, and an athletic director and principal in Apple Valley MN, a southern suburb of Minneapolis.  My mom was a business teacher and eventually a guidance counselor.

I chose to follow in their footsteps after a great high school experience and 4 years at my dad's Alma Mater, Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.  I have spent my entire teaching career in a wonderful high school in Eagan MN.  I earned my first master's degree in 2000 in Library Science, the day I gave birth to my son Erik.

Yup.  There is a science to a library.

My best friend is my sister Tova.  Had you asked me 45 years ago if this would be the case, I would have scoffed and laughed in your face.  As we move through life we are even more connected than I had ever hoped.

In 1991 I married my college classmate Al.  We have 4 kids.  Amazing kids, even better adults.  Each with different gifts, annoyances, joys, talents, sadness and pure, unadulterated joy.  We are on the back half of kids-GRANDkids.  One word!  WOW!

After 32 years in teaching, a pandemic, a second Master's degree in Law, health issues and my personal restlessness I have decided there are things that I want to try and do before I am "old".

So here we go-I hope you will join me on this ride.  After all, things are much more enjoyable within a community.

Why Do I Write?

For so many reasons!  Where do I begin?  I consider myself a creative.  Over the years I have expressed myself using music, running for office and I continue to use that creativity in the classroom.  I am so interested in exploring this part of myself.  Every writer believes that they can make a difference in someone's life.  I am hopeful that I can do that in a way that is meaningful to you.
